December 15, 2004 - Pete Luckett took home a Gemini
at the 19th Annual Gemini Awards, in Toronto, December
12th. Luckett was nominated in the category
of Best Host in a Lifestyle/General Interest or Talk
Program or Series for his show, The Food Hunter.
Celebrating the diversity, colour and wonder of food,
and unique cultures that grow and prepare it, The
Food Hunter casts Pete as an International Traveling
Greengrocer, whisking viewers to far reaching corners
of the globe to share in his mouth-watering experiences.
One of the world's most definitive produce experts,
Pete spent almost two years filming The Food Hunter
series in 19 countries. Paprika in Hungary, Saffron
in Spain, Kiwi in New Zealand, Truffles in Italy and
Vanilla in Tahiti are just a few of the exotic locations
that formed the backdrop of the award winning series.
The Food Hunter is produced by Ocean
Entertainment Ltd., a company based in Halifax specializing
in documentary programming. According to Johanna Eliot,
President, "We are all so very excited and proud.
Pete has a wonderful personality, I mean the guy emanates
personality, and I believe we have captured just that
in filming The Food Hunter series. I also believe
Pete's win reflects his enormous passion and pursuit
of interesting food."
The Food Hunter premiered on Food
Network Canada and Food Network in the US and now
airs on BBC Food in the UK, South Africa, and Scandinavia.
Other nominees in the Best Host in
a Lifestyle/General Interest or Talk Program or Series
category were CityLine with Marilyn Denis, Carol Off
of Counterspin, Debbie Travis Debbie Travis' Facelift
and Evan Soloman of Hot Type. Edward Mowbray was nominated
for The Food Hunter for Best Direction in a Lifestyle/
Practical Information Program or Series.
